Object Study®
A year-long weekly practice in visual thinking.
For the next twelve months, I’ll spend some time each weekend exploring a single concept through image-making. By limiting each study to one concept, I’m challenging myself to simplify; to find the clearest way to express an idea through form, light, material, and composition.
More than a collection of images, this is a personal practice. A way to keep developing my visual culture, strengthening conceptual thinking, and refining my ability to turn ideas into simple, memorable visuals. 52 weeks. 52 concepts.
Overview:Volume 01, Craving, explores the visual language of desire through everyday objects that have become symbols of anticipation, pleasure, and reward. Each object was chosen for its ability to evoke an almost immediate emotional response, whether it's a smiley face, a lollipop, a shopping cart, or a chrome sneaker.
The visual direction draws heavily from the bold optimism of 1990s advertising. Hyper-glossy surfaces, dramatic reflections, studio lighting, and rich gradients transform familiar objects into something more aspirational, almost irresistible.
While every image features a different subject, they all share the same visual principles. Similar viewpoints, materials, lighting, colour palettes, and composition create a sense of continuity, allowing the collection to feel like a single visual system rather than a series of individual renders. Together, these studies explore how aesthetics alone can amplify desire.
